Soft Chopper is a life-size motorcycle constructed from re-purposed silks and women’s blouses. It was constructed over 4 weeks onsite at Studio Cycle Group’s motorcycle shop (October 26- November 24, 2012) as part of the World of Threads 2012 festival.
This 4-week residency + 3 week exhibit was an opportunity for me to facilitate a mingling of biker culture and fashion design. Soft Chopper explores allure of shiny things, customization and tailoring, DIY culture and how it relates to mixed-media, collage and the body.
